Cabaret

Productions qualify for consideration by the Cabaret Panel when a performance extends beyond the presentation of musical or other performance material as a concert because, by virtue of the character of the performer or the presentation of the material a particular ethos or sensibility is being induced above and beyond the presentation of the material in question as music.

It is not usual for grand rights to be paid for a cabaret performance (according to APRA guidelines, grand rights must be paid where there are three or more of music, book, costumes and sets presented on stage) but such a production may qualify where the production is not eligible for consideration by the Music Theatre Panel.

Usual categories awarded include:

- Best Production
- Musical Direction/Arrangements
- Original Songs
- Cabaret Artiste
- Director
